Limited runs and 96k

I am currently planning a great deal of new and exciting releases for the next year. It’s going to be a lot of work, but I’ve enlisted a trusted and talented audio engineer to help me with this, Adrian Wong of Loose Ears Audio. Adrian has a deep, deep catalogue of some amazing live recordings from some of the best Bay Area musicians. If you’re a lover of the local jazz scene you will want to sign up for my newsletter so you can be one of the first. More on this as the year unfolds (I know, I’m a tease).

Meanwhile, I’m trying something new right now. I’m offering the latest release, Roger Kellaway’s “Westwood Song” for tuba and piano in a high resolution 96k/24 bit audio file for those who have the equipment and are seeking this type of ultra clean immersive musical experience. Along with the high definition audio there will be a limited run of 50 CDs, and I mean limited. Once they’re gone they will be gone forever. Westwood Song is technically a single…. a 25 minute single! It’s very hard to release such a recording because the intake programs at iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby and the like will only let a single be priced at 99¢.
Well, the amount of work, rehearsals, production and post production that went into this recording alone make it worth more than 99¢. Plus the stellar performance by San Francisco Opera’s principal tubist is totally worth $5! So that’s why I’ve released it here on Digital Victrola and on Bandcamp (if you prefer).

Note that the Westwood Song might very well also appear on a full length album of other music by Roger Kellaway that is in the works…

Stay healthy everyone! And please sign up for my newsletter!
